Guatemala, Summer 2009
My two daughters, Taraneh (12, pictured above on her first mission trip to Mexico) and Leah (19, pictured below on a mission trip to Bogota, Colombia) are praying about joining Focus on the Family’s Brio Magazine on a mission trip to Guatemala this summer.
Leah feels called to full-time missionary service and is excited to share her heart for the world with her little sissy. Mom has been informed that her presence is not requested. They are striking out on their own.
Both girls are learning to trust God for his provision. If it’s God’s will it’s God’s bill. So they’ve been told; so they are learning to walk by faith.
Here is Taraneh’s letter:
I’m excited to announce to you the chance-of-a-lifetime opportunity I have next summer. I’ll be going on a missions trip to Guatemala City, Guatemala for two weeks with Brio magazine. The trip begins June 29th with training in Miami. We’ll learn an evangelistic mime presentation, foreign language phrases and cultural sensitivity. From Miami, we’ll fly into Guatemala. Each day we’ll minister to people through drama in parks, schools, poverty-stricken neighborhoods and churches. After each presentation, we’ll have the opportunity to share one-on-one with the people and lead them to Jesus with the help of volunteers from local churches.
I believe that God has given me this great opportunity to see what other people believe, how they live and to share the message of Jesus Christ with them. However, I must raise approximately $2,800. I’d like to give you the opportunity to support me and to be a part of this life-changing experience, both to me and to the people of Guatemala.
I understand that finances are tough for many, but if you feel led to give, any amount will be very much appreciated. Your tax-deductible check should be made payable to Big World Ventures and given to me, so I can send all the money in at the same time.
Please pray for me, and for the people of Guatemala to open their hearts to the love of God. If you’re willing and able to commit to either supporting me through prayer or supporting me financially, please reply as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Taraneh Partow

Donna,
I’m so happy for your two girls, and I’m going to be keeping them in my prayers, for God’s provision and direction. I think it’s exciting that they want to “step out on their own” and this Focus on the Family Brio trip sounds like a great opportunity.
And let me know what YOUR current thoughts are, regarding missions and summer . . . and YOU.
Love you!
Ann
