God is Alive and Well at Youth Haven

Written by donnapartow under Uncategorized on May 14, 2009

I set off on a mission to find the farm animals at Youth Haven.  Here’s a little tour of the beautiful grounds:

I finally found the farm animals:

Neat conversation with Rick, who declares the best part about Youth Haven is that God is alive and well here!  Amen to that!  What a beautiful place.  It’s easy to understand why some kids call it Youth Heaven:

Donna,

Thanks for sharing here at Youth Haven these past few days. I didn’t get a chance to talk to you, but I would like to ask for prayer. I am the food service manager. I was wearing the pink and black striped shirt on Saturday (to help you picture me.) And anyone who reads this comment page, please pray as well.

Please pray for my boyfriend, Jarrod. As you were talking, I realized that a lot of his battle is because he is a first generation Christian. He is battling a drug addiction that reared its ugly head again about a month ago. We were in the midst of planning our wedding at that point. Since then I broke the engagement and am currently not communicating directly with him. It was (and still is) a difficult decision, but it’s one that I believe has been directed by God. I am speaking with my spiritual mentor who is doing counseling with him. She is encouraged by the progress he is making. I won’t go into all the details, but please pray that Jarrod breaks free from this. I am absolutely sure of a few things: God loves Jarrod, God loves me, God does not want Jarrod to be addicted, Jarrod doesn’t want to be addicted, Jarrod loves God, Jarrod loves me, and I love Jarrod. I have been and will continue to surround Jarrod as a musk ox with my prayers. Please pray that Jarrod chooses life so that he may live, each and every day. Pray that when he is tempted, he sees and takes the way out that God provides. And pray that he takes captive his thoughts to make them obedient to God. Pray for me that I know and follow God’s kingdom assignment in relation to Jarrod, as well as in whatever else God has for me.

Thanks again! Your messages each day were exactly what I needed to hear in this time of my life. One thing, of many, that jumped out at me was when you said that those of us who have grown up in Christian homes have been strengthened for even tougher kingdom assignments. This one with Jarrod is my toughest one yet, even tougher than working with the kids at Youth Haven. But I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, and I will not be moved.

Blessings,
Carrie

My hubby and I are ones who bring kids from Indina. We learned about Youth Haven when our daughter Carrie needed a summer job while going to Purdue. She now is the Cook and loves what She is doing and this will be Her 9th summer. We met Rick during Carrie’s second summer. He has a passion for kids and wants to help them in any way He can. I praise the Lord I had the oppertunity to see you on Thrusday.

Hi, I just was looking at your site and saw discussions about Youth Haven. I have a daughter (struggling currently but hungry for the fullness of the Lord to direct and show her the passion of Christ for her soul) and was wondering if there is any place that she and I might be able to help / be a part of Youth Haven? We were about to plan a 10 day summer trip together and want to make the time purposeful for the Kingdom.
