Day 8: Becoming Consciously Selective
Hi, Donna! I really appreciated what you said in your video for Day 8… we have consciously chosen to cut TV down significantly in our family for the reasons you discussed and more! I’m a clinical social worker and I’ve read so much literature that attests to the negative influence TV can have on people, especially kids neurologically, socially, attentionally, and in lots of other ways, and we’ve found that to be true in our lives. Like you said about the yahoo page ignorance, our 2.5 year old daughter has almost no idea who Dora, Thomas, or even the Sesame Street characters are because she doesn’t watch TV. People think that’s weird, but I’m actually pretty proud of it! Once in a while, like once a week, I might watch some Veggie Tales with her or we might watch a “kid” movie, but almost never more than like half an hour at a time. I’m really glad you’re bringing this issue to people’s attention… it’s amazing how much more peaceful your life is when there isn’t the TV on all the time! (By the way… do you have a bird? I thought I heard it twittering in the background during your video. Hee hee!!) Blessings sister!
Donna, have you seen the movie “Fireproof”? It is made by the same people who made “Facing the Giants”. It is all about the marriage relationship and is very well done. I recommend that.
Thanks for your comments, sisters. Glad people ARE watching these videos we are pouring our hearts into. This blog is my “field of dreams” I guess. My husband and I started it mostly because he’s out of work (architects aren’t exactly in big demand in this housing market!) – so we tackled this project mostly to keep him from going stir-crazy! But we figured we would “sow our seeds in time of famine” and just see what harvest God might bring.
Your encouraging words are an important part of the blessings we are reaping!
Praise the Lord. I would like to know Donna, How I can order your 90day-jumpstart-Teleseminar Audios. Does it come on a CD and Audio Cassette? Thank you God Bless Yvonne R. Warner
