A weekend in my life: Houston April 2009
First, the airport drop off
Next, a Continental employee gets involved:
Once inside the airport, I walked in a bookstore…and there was my newest book, Becoming the Woman God Wants Me To Be:
Me chillin’ with Veggie Tales. A fruit and veggies. How healthy!!
Next I meet my hostesses for the weekend, Celebration Ministries, Cathy Busa and Judy Graham.
Christians have to eat. All the time. So step 1 is a breakfast meeting with the leaders of Celebration Ministries.
The hotel room must be transformed into a sanctuary.
We have sighted the token male !!!
Sewing machine sighting….don’t ask!
Prayer Warrior Gathering – turned into a 2-hour encounter with the presence of God. It was AMAZING. Wow. God is fixin’ to show up in a big way this weekend. I can feel it. I can always tell how a weekend is gonna go when I pray with the prayer team. If they know how to pray – and these women DO — look out!
Some reflections from my room:
The Celebration Ministries worship team kicks things off:
Judy Graham, President of Celebration Ministries, stands with some of our Mighty Musk Ox Prayer Warriors inviting more women to join their number:
More Reflections from the Room: Overview of the Weekend’s Message
Attendee, Lori Gruber, shares from her heart the reaction to the weekend
A recovering PORCUPINE speaks:
A Musk Ox speaks:
Did you notice the emphasis on prayer and FASTING?
Nicole Benson led the communion service. The women placed all of their broken places on the communion table before we placed the elements (Christ’s broken body) upon it:
Reflections on the flight home. Note the flowers tucked in the seat-back pocket. And they say I’m eccentric. Not even!
Glad you are finding it amusing and perhaps enlightening. I won’t do this every weekend, of course, but I’d like to recruit someone to actually videotape me while speaking next time. Couldn’t find anyone to do it this time around.
Donna,
We loved having you in Houston! I hope you will come back soon!
Thanks so much for being so open to God and honest in your messages to us. And thank you for travailing in prayer for us.
I pray the super glue hold is broken and we mighty musk ox prayer warrior princesses get out and ride the circuit, now!
I WILL be back in Katy, Texas in June. Check my schedule! Thanks for the encouraging word!
Donna: Your words reignited the fire in my heart. I have been skirting around bringing the true meaning of the Word to our sisters who are incarcerated. I have been fortunate enough to bring a message one time and to serve communion and to pray for individuals there; but now, I’m ready to take the next step, bring one of your studies into the prison walls and help my sisters know his actual Word. It is so different to read it, and/or memorize it as opposed to actually living his Word. The walls should not stop those who truly want to live in his Light. So on my way home Sunday morning, I contacted a Chaplain for a local woman’s prison and I’ve got the wheels in motion. I asked God to remove all my fear of going into the prison itself and I am confident that He will open all doors for me to do His work. Thank you for being just who you are and being a “straight shooter from the hip” – an expression I always used (and I’m from Rhode Island so it must be a northern quip). May God continue to bless all you do. A truly faithful and Mighty Musk Ox Prayer Warrior Princess.
Donna- You were a real kick in the pants this weekend. Just what I needed. I’ve never been to a women’s conference like that. It was life-changing. I’m getting in shape and waiting for my assignment.
I’ve had so many wonderful emails and Facebook comments about the weekend in Houston. Thanks so much. It’s all thanks to the faithful prayers of your leadership. God has great things in store for the UMC
Hope to see ya’ll again!
Heya, already been following your blog for a long time. I operate a similar blog page but I always keep getting a pile of spam responses, how do you keep your blog page so unpolluted?
You have to download a spam blocker just for blogs. A guy from my church did it for me. Even with it, I set up my blog that all posts MUST be approved. Otherwise, I also get a ton of spam.
